(How Much Money?)

Write. Share. Earn.

Here's the story behind this site:

We are programmers turned marketers. We (John and Dan) graduated from BYU in computer science. We then learned the art of internet marketing.

We get emails every day from people who want to learn how to make money working from home but don't have the money to get the information they need. We don't own the information in writing, other people do, so we can't give it away.

One night I (John) was laying in bed thinking about how we could help these people. I mean, these are single moms, dads with families who just got layed off, poor college students, etc. Then I came up with this idea:

Allow people to write content, articles, stories...blogs!

I mean, Dan and I know how to market what other people write. If we could just offer a website where people could "write 'till their hearts content" we could market what they write, make money off it, and split the revenue.

When I asked Dan to come up with an idea to help people, he came up with the EXACT same idea.

So, here it is.

We sent out an email to people asking for feedback on the idea and the response we got was overwhelming.

So we got to programming and here it is.

A site where you write about whatever you know and we both make money. You use your knowledge, we use ours, we both win.

Best of all It's FREE! There are no strings attached. No contracts. No requirements. Nothing.

Use the site if you like it. Use it if it makes you money. If it doesn't, stop using it.

Here's how it works:

  1. You create an account with us
  2. You create an account with Google Adsense
  3. You enter the Adsense publisher Id (pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) into your "my account " page on our site
  4. You login and write blog entries on our site
  5. We host your blog and publish it onto the internet
  6. We use our marketing knowledge to get visitors to your blog
  7. We serve ads on your blog. One time the ad is yours, the next it's ours
  8. Visitors click the ads. You make money. We make money
  9. Google sends you a check. Google sends us a check
  10. You're happy. We're happy. Google's happy. Visitors are happy.
  11. Life is good
We thought hard about the domain name because of our high hopes for this site. We hope it has the ability to change at least a few peoples lives for the better. Hence the name, writingUp. Hopefully some of you will be able to move up in life financially...through writing.

Writing Up Down Up Down

I'm really sorry about the downtime recently.

We've been fighting this problem now for 3 days and still haven't found the cause. We're now moving our database to a different server. This is going to bring some "expected" downtime in the next hour or so.

No More P*****, No More C***, No More D***

So I'm sitting at home last night, thinking about the numerous mistakes I've made during the course of my adult life, really working on turning the funk into a LEGENDARY funk, when that voice in my head said to me, "You are such a pussy".

[11.] Various Google AdSense alternatives (12.06.2006)

I've seen many threads, entries on blogs etc. where people are posting about AdSense alternatives; mostly they do it after their accounts were disabled. So therefore I am posting this "blog-entry" with links to a pages which list these alternatives; for example here is one such page: http://websterflooble.com/program_id.html ...

Humboldt Redwoods State Park

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Humboldt Redwoods State Park, about 5 hours north of San Francisco off Highway 101. What a beautiful place! If you’ve never been, I would highly recommend the trip. We joined some friends for camping. “We” does not include me as I don’t camp, so I usually find a bed and breakfast close by.

Aren't Click Sites Cheating?

You've probably seen their websites or their advertizing promising more hits on your websites.

  • ClickMogul
  • AdSense-Xchange
  • Lord of the Clicks
  • AdSense Team

There's no doubt that these websites to generate more traffic. I personally don't use it, but I know some who do. There's only one question, "Aren't Click Sites Cheating?"

  • Kissing his Feet

How many times have you kissed his feet? Be honest. On an average day I will have kissed his feet about 20 times, that is 20 times to each foot. I wash them, put a little lavender oil on them and just kiss them throughout the day. He doesn’t return the favor; he prefers to bite on his rattle. But of course, getting the same amount of love right back to me isn’t the goal. I just can’t take my lips off of those feet!

Craziness All Over - My entry into Sassy's New and Improved Challenge

    1. Don't expect me to enter all challenges now...this was a special occurance.
    2. I'm not a writer. I'm a marketer/programmer. You guys are the writers. Go easy on me.

    There's craziness everywhere here.

    Book Review: The Well-Fed Writer

I checked out The Well Fed Writer at the library last week, hoping for a miracle. I try to avoid getting my hopes up about things like this; I really don't believe that it's possible to get rich quick, or that there is such a thing as easy money. However, the book jacket promised a proven path to self sufficiency in six months time, and I figured that it was worth a read.

How Do I Find a Literary Agent or Get my mini-novel published?

I have many women that have been reading my story. It is an autobiography of my experience through my husband's deployment to Iraq. Many of them have told me I should publish it and they would stand in line waiting to buy it. But, all searches I have done come up with publishing companies that want thousands of dollars upfront to publish my book. Well, I am a single mother now with 3 kids at home and just don't have the means to provide this upfront cost. How do I go about getting a Literary agent or even getting my story published on my own without the cost involved? Does anyone know? Does anyone have any experience in this?

    Hypothetical: Programming People

Imagine you are a scientist and this woman is brought to you for help. Another scientist implanted a chip into her brain and controlled her with it for his own use.

You have been told to remove the chip - which you can do perfectly well - so she can go on and live her own life.
